Preamble
History of All Pakistan Toys Association can be tracked back to
the year 1958 when some toy traders of Shah Alam Market, Lahore united on a
platform to fight for their interests & rights. So they formed Shah Alam Toys Traders’ Association
which later on transformed into Lahore
Toys Manufacturers Cottage & Toys Industry Association and in early
1980-88 it was named as All Pakistan
Toys Manufacturers Association. Later on, in 1990 it eventually adopted
final shape of All Pakistan Toys
Association
About
APTA
All Pakistan Toy Association™ (APTA) is the non-profit trade
organization and its registered office is located at Shah Alam Market, Lahore and
provincial office at Karachi. It is representing all business communities involved
in creating and bringing toys and youth entertainment products to kids of all
ages.
The primary and the foremost objective of forming this
association was to provide a platform wherefrom issues and problems being
faced by toy community can be addressed directly to concerned authorities and
get them resolved.
Today APTA’s members are involved in a large variety of
children’s products ranging across toys, hobbies, games (board, electronic
& video), car safety, sports, products. This reflects the increasing
diversification of APTA’s membership as they develop to meet the changing
needs of a quickly evolving society.
Mission
The Association's mission is:
“To represent and service members who specialized in products for
children and family leisure, learning and entertainment”.
Management of the Association
Management of the Association lies in the hands of a Board of
Directors which comprises of ten taken from member companies and these APTA
Directors are elected by voting procedure.
Aims
& Objectives
In pursuit of its objects, the APTA aims at:
1.
To provide a platform to all toy
& related industry suffered people wherefrom they can raise their voice,
fight for their rights and get their issues resolved.
2.
To promote toy industry in Pakistan
and elsewhere throughout the world in the potential markets.
3.
To unite the toy industry for better
interaction between manufacturers and traders.
4.
To unite manufacturers, traders,
importers & exporters of toys industry.
5.
To get united all small industry
units into one central unit to better negotiate toys industry issues with
governmental departments.
6.
To create a conducive working
relationship between the industry and the government.
7.
To represent the industries problems
and requirements with the government.
8.
To encourage the manufacture and
export of Pakistan-made cultural & traditional toys.
9.
To encourage creative toy design
& encourage respect for intellectual property rights.
10. To act as a source of information for improving the public image
of the industry.
11. To communicate with members in a prompt and efficient manner.
12. To recommend/suggest import/export policy/duties to government of
Pakistan, keeping in mind the interest of toy industry.
13. To organize fairs/exhibitions in different parts of the country
to bring together the manufacturers, traders and end users to keep them
abreast of modern play-way methods and acting as a bridge between importers
and exporters.
14. To facilitate/organize participation in international toy fairs
as well toys exhibition.
15. To conduct seminars/workshops for modernization and technical
up-gradation of the industry, (R&D).
16. To promote and participate in the development of toy safety
standards in Pakistan and elsewhere throughout the world.
Boards and Committees
As APTA is nonprofit organization and complies with its articles
of incorporation and bylaws which explain the authority and powers of the
Board and its Committees. The documents dictate the required number of board
members and provide for the creation & appointment of committee chairs.
Boards may have standing committees, such as the finance or executive
committee, and might even establish ad hoc committees to address specific
issues. Committees do the work of the board by focusing on specific issues,
which allows for closer attention to important tasks. All Committee are answerable
to the full board and may be supervised by one or more of the board leaders.

Committees
As APTA’s Members basically belong to six classes of separate businesses
which are as under: -

Exporters’ Committee
5-
Wooden & Educational Toys Committee
6-
Stuff Toys Committee
Hence, there are six numbers of Committees constituted in order
to represent its respective class of business of members to address their
issues and to have them resolved from the authorities concerned.
Each Committee is led by one Chairman elected by voting. Every Committee
will be given roles & responsibilities within their areas of work which
would be answerable directly to Board of Directors and submit their reports to
the Board of Directors in Annual General Meeting.
Executive Committee
Overall Roles and Responsibilities
An Executive Committee’s authority derives from the authority of
the board, and one of the most important decisions a board makes is to define
the role and authority of the Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee provides a mechanism for board leaders in
decision making, oversight, and communication on important organizational
matters. This authoritative Committee has vital role to play in organizational
matters.
Responsibilities
The
Executive Committee’s specific responsibilities include:

Serving as a sounding board for
management on emerging issues, problems, and initiatives.
·
Reporting to the board at the board’s
next meeting on any official actions it has taken.
·
Executive Committee also has responsibility
for governance
Membership’s Benefits:
APTA’s regular members include any business that is actively
engaged in manufacture, import, sales, and distribution of toys and related
items in the Pakistan may benefit himself with following: -

Provides an opportunity to its members to involve in APTA‘s
activities and meet Government officials, Federal and Provincial Ministers,
Ambassadors and Leading Businessmen both Local and International.

APTA is
regularly consulted by the Government on issues related to the business
community, which provides openings for our members to share their views and
concerns.

The Association also explains procedures, new regulations,
provides in-depth trade & investment advice.
4)
Standing Committees actively monitor and pursue issues concerning
trade, foreign investment regulations, tourism, requirements etc.
5)
Business delegations are arranged regularly which provide
opportunities to the delegates to meet their counterparts in the respective
countries and enhance their vision.
6)
APTA members
are nominated for numerous Government advisory committees and statutory boards
where national policies are formulated.
7) APTA regular members avail Business Opportunities like Training,
Seminars, Fairs & Exhibitions.
